Dear Parents/Guardians:

Welcome to First Grade! Your child is embarking on one of the most important milestones in life! This is going to be a year of fun, learning, and friendships.

To tell you a little bit about myself...I graduated from Texas State University with a degree in Business Education (certifying me for 6th - 12th grades) then I went back to school and received my EC through 4th grade teaching certification. In addition, I am ESL and GT certified. I have taught both Kindergarten and 2nd grade and this is my 9th year to teach 1st grade at Lamar Elementary.  I have one daughter, Emily, who is a Senior at Texas A&M.  (Whoop!)  I also have 2 cats and a bird.  (I know, an interesting combination!)  In my spare time, I love to travel, sight-see, antique shop, run, play tennis, cook, entertain, decorate, scrapbook, and, of course, spend lots of time with my family and friends!

Communication is key to great parent-teacher relationships. I will communicate with you through newsletters, notes, phone calls, emails, conferences and report cards.  The best way to contact me is through email, as I check it at least twice per day. If you need to see me during the school day, I have conference time daily from 945-10:30.   I can also meet before or after school if needed.

I know, without a doubt, we are going to have a great year and I am looking forward to working with your child.
Thank you in advance for your concern and support throughout this year and for partnering with me in the education of your child!

Sincerely,

Anita Williams
