While I am at school my students are like family and it brings me so much joy towatch them have “aha!’ moments and continue to learn & grow. I deeply cherish all of the relationships I have builtover the years with my students and their families here, and I cannot wait to start getting to know your child and family! Itruly feel honored and privileged to be a teacher at Lamar, and I’m ecstatic to have the opportunity to be your child’s 4thgrade teacher!

Nightly reading homework
11/15/2017
Dear Parents,

Thank you for taking the time to encourage your child to read nightly. Since recording titles and pages read on the calender, I have seen an increase in reading.  At the start of year your child was checking in with me letting me know what they were reading.  Not only are students reading nightly, but also they are learning accountability and responsibility.

Grading of nightly reading:
Every Friday, students are expected to take a picture of their weekly reading log and submit it to Ebackpack.  For everyday students write there title and pages they earn 20 pts, for a total of 100 points.  I hope this helps give you understanding of how the calender is being graded.

Thursday work

Dear Parents,

Every Thursday in Reading class students are working on a reading passage or

M
agazine.
In class yesterday, we talked about the need to slow down and go back in our reading and find text evidence. For many students, this
was why they missed some of the questions. In addition, we talked about the importance of using our strategies.
As you see these graded assignments going home, please take the time to go over missed problems with your child. No need to return them, unless it is stated on their paper. This could be very beneficial for them.  Thank you for your support.

Best,
