HEALTH
Course Description: This course in health education is required of all students in high school. In Health, students develop knowledge and skills to address adolescent health issues. Students gain a better understanding of the knowledge and behavior they use to safeguard their health, particularly pertaining to health risks. Major areas of study will include fitness, human anatomy & physiology, nutrition, mental/ social health, substance abuse, and interpersonal relationships.
CPR/AED HS course completion requirement
Students who are enrolled in High School Health class must receive training about CPR/AED, safety training for choking victims for them to graduate from high school in Texas. Students will receive .5 high school credits for completing this required training course. Failure to do so will require the student to retake the course in high school again.
TX Edu Code § 28.0023
2013 The State Board of Education by rule shall require instruction in cardiopulmonary resuscitation for students in grades 7th through 12th.

Course Requirements and Evaluations: Several methods will be used to determine grades in this course. The following are examples of methods that may be used to determine grades, although additional methods may be used.

Grading Scale:
· Tests/ Projects = 60%
· Quizzes/ Classroom Daily Work =40%
