So, who is your math motivator for this year? I'm a mom of two boys: Travis is a sophomore at Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas. Tyler is in ninth grade and in band. I have lived in New Braunfels for over 16 years. My husband, Scott, and I will be celebrating our 27th anniversary this year. As for teaching, I began my teaching career in 1991 after graduating from Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas (GO PIRATES!). I have managed to teach everything from pre-k through high school math. My certification is general education through 8th grade, ESL all level, and Math grades 1-12. I received my Masters in Education in 1999 from Sam Houston State University (YAY BEARKATS!) in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis on Library Science (so yes, I am a bookworm!). I am SUPER excited to belong to the BEST staff in NBISD!

Students will create an interactive math journal this year in math class; therefore, each student will be required to have a composition book or at least a spiral (composition book is preferred as they are sturdier). Students should also bring GLUE and SCISSORS to class as well. We do write on paper, so BRING A PENCIL. Classwork and homework may be assigned throughout the week. Tests are on Fridays for seventh graders, and scheduled throughout the grading period for Algebra I. Algebra students will have access to the TI-Nspire App on their iPads, and we will utilize this calculator in our curriculum.
Invitations to apply for NJHS will be distributed on Friday, January 10 through your math teacher. If you receive a letter, you must use the ONLINE APPLICATION to apply. Formal invitations will be handed out in a few weeks!
Welcome back to school, NJHS members! I'm this year's sponsor and looking forward to working with you! Make sure you are on my REMIND notification schedule until we get our other methods of communication situated.
